What's Your Reason? St. Martins Adventures in #SJTownsByTheBay

August 03, 2022

As part of our 500 Reasons to Discover Saint John & the Towns by the Bay Giveaway, we're featuring YOUR reasons for making #SJTownsByTheBay your bay-cation or stay-cation destination!

Our week three winner is Ilze Hillier, whose favourite way to explore our region is enjoying all that St. Martins has to offer:

Ilze shares:

My husband and I moved here six years ago to be closer to our grandkids. What attracted us to the region was the natural landscapes, proximity to the Bay of Fundy, and affordability so that we could take an early retirement. Now that we've lived here, I really appreciate how welcoming the people are and the opportunities I've had, like being a part of great art, book and garden clubs.

St. Martins has become one of our favorite Towns by the Bay to explore. I've had a number of friends visit me from Ontario this summer, and I always bring them to St. Martins to show off the natural beauty of the village. The caves take their breath away!

The Fundy Trail Parkway also offers spectacular views and lets them see the beauty of our region. The suspension bridge is awesome and brings many surprises! Some friends have been scared to cross it but they've all met the challenge!

I'm proud to say that I've hiked all the trails with my grandson, except for the Fundy Footpath - we've hiked two segments to date. These trails are a challenge I've grown to love.

We all enjoy having a bite to eat at The Caves Restaurant afterwards. Looking out to sea while munching on delicious food after enjoying the scenery of the parkway has everyone saying, "It doesn't get better than this!"

Congratulations Ilze! We hope your prize winnings give you even more reasons to Discover Saint John & the Towns By The Bay.
