A Romantic Getaway

January 22, 2026

If you’re looking for the perfect Valentine’s Day weekend plans, are celebrating a significant relationship milestone, or just want time to slow down and reconnect with your significant other, the Saint John Region offers a romantic getaway like no other.

Day 1 - Nestled by Nature

Morning

Start your romantic getaway with breakfast for two in Hampton – a picturesque town that will undoubtedly make you feel like you’re living the plot of a Hallmark movie. Enjoy the all-day breakfast options at Berc’s Cookhouse, sip on coffee and pastries at Station 33 Café, or enjoy grilled breakfast specials at the Red Brick Oasis.

After fueling up for your day, immerse yourself in the beauty of nature on one of the many trails found in Hampton. Wander along the Osprey Marsh path to take in lighted pathways and views of the town, or explore Dutch Point Trail – Hampton’s portion of the Trans Canada Trail. Too cold for an outdoor adventure? Hop in the car and follow the Quilt Barn Tour, a tribute to the local heritage and long tradition of craftsmanship that has marked the town for centuries.

Lunch

Hit the road and head into the Kennebecasis Valley, where the communities of Quispamsis and Rothesay are waiting to welcome you. Between the two towns, there is no shortage of incredible lunch options to enjoy.

Head to Mexi’s KV for nachos (we recommend the BBQ Chicken) and drinks; enjoy freshly made sushi rolls at Sushi Blossom; feast on Korean-style fried chicken at Kim’s Fry Time; treat yourselves to wood-fired pizza at Pomodori Pizzeria (and be sure to grab gelato for dessert); or, enjoy a variety of pizza and pasta options with Vito’s lunch menu.

Afternoon

For the afternoon, plan to experience the best of the Bay of Fundy with a hiking excursion guided by In Step Adventures! Book in advance with their experienced guides to create an adventure customized to your interests and abilities. Explore the Fundy Coast in Fundy-St. Martins, snowshoe a nearby trail in the Kennebecasis Valley, or head into Saint John to explore the Musquash Estuary. Whether you’re looking to journey far or want to stay nearby, there are great options that are sure to give you a unique perspective of the Saint John Region.

Evening

After a long day of exploring, settle in for a relaxed evening with dinner and drinks at The Robertson. This high-end restaurant loves local, sourcing many of its popular ingredients from Saint John Region producers like Crosby’s and Acadian Sturgeon and Caviar. Their modern venue, curated menu, and attention to detail will create the perfect romantic atmosphere for you and your partner to decompress and reconnect.

Our recommendation? Book a stay at the Shadow Lawn Inn that night so your dinner and drinks can transition seamlessly into an evening of relaxation together.

Day 2 - Off the Beaten Path

Morning

To start off day two, enjoy breakfast together at one of Rothesay’s cozy cafes. Common’s Creperie offers a variety of sweet and savoury crepe options to choose from, guaranteed to leave you full and somehow wanting more all at the same time. Garden Grove Café is also nearby, offering a selection of coffee and teas, as well as pastries and other light breakfast items.

Then, hit the road for another day of adventure! Journey across the Gondola Point Ferry – one of several toll-free ferry services offered in our region – to the Fundy Rural District, where peaceful paradise awaits.

Your first stop? Elmhurst Outdoors! Choose from cross-country ski or snowshoe rentals and explore their expansive trail system, featuring 9 ski and 11 snowshoe trails. Stop in the lodge to warm up with hot drinks and giant cookies.

Lunch

Continuing exploring the Fundy Rural District for some great lunch options. If you’re looking for something casual, grab a bite to eat at Reeds Point Pub and Grill, offering all your pub favourites plus incredible views of the peninsula. Or, if you’re interested in exploring the region’s craft beverage scene, head to Yip Cider where you can enjoy a variety of locally made ciders and a select food menu.

Afternoon

Next, hit the road and head out to La Belle Cabane - the perfect place to disconnect and reconnect.  The thermal spa experience is sure to be a highlight of your trip, offering an afternoon of rest and relaxation in your own private spa pod. Begin with a dry or steam sauna to cleanse and purify the body. Relax in a hot tub, then rest deeply on a heated river-stone bed. Finally, breathe in the halotherapy and infrared sauna and shared salt room.

Once your spa date is complete, check into one of their off-grid wilderness cabins. Each cabin features a cozy loft, wood-burning stove, kitchenette, and solar lighting, all helping you to find freedom in the forest. Unpack, unwind, and enjoy quality time together in the quiet of nature.

To ensure the best experience for you and your loved one, make sure to book your spa pod and cabin in advance!

Evening

Keep your evening simple and intimate. Our suggestion? After breakfast, plan a stop at a nearby market or grocery store to stock up on a few essentials for dinner and snacks for your cabin. Cochran’s Country Market, M&M Food Market, and McPhee’s Bakery are great options for food. Local breweries like Long Bay Brewery, Foghorn Brew Co., and Drifter Brew Co. offer a variety of drink options to choose from – or visit a nearby Sobeys, Superstore, or ANBL location for everything you’re looking to stock up on. Then, enjoy preparing a meal together on the stove or in the kitchenette. End your night with a beer or glass of wine (or drink of choice!), a crackling fire, and a sky full of stars – no further agenda required.
