September 08, 2022

As part of our 500 Reasons to Discover Saint John & the Towns by the Bay Giveaway, we're featuring YOUR reasons for making #SJTownsByTheBay your bay-cation or stay-cation destination!

Our week eight winner is Noche Kim, whose reason for exploring the region is experiencing stunning Rockwood Park:

Noche shares:

First impressions last! Rockwood Park is the first tourist spot my family visited here in Saint John. At the entrance, we were welcomed by the majestic view of Lily Lake. The atmosphere is so beautiful and refreshing. Our family loves going on nature walks and the trails in this park simply exceed our expectations. Although it is close to the core of the city, it still provides the best nature scenery.

The trails are well mapped and paths are well maintained which makes it easier to explore the park. My son also enjoys playing with the squirrels and pigeons. The rock monuments for each province of Canada is an added attraction, giving us a geographical glimpse of this great country. And after an enjoyable long day, you can relax and eat in Lake Lily Pavilion which offers delicious food and refreshing drinks.

The park has lots of activities to fill your day! With picnic areas, swimming and/or kayaking in the lake, hiking trails, biking trails, a golf course, fishing, and camping grounds for overnight, there is always something new to try. They also have horseback riding and a children's playground. Our next visit to this park, as promised to our son, will be for swimming and kayaking, as we didn't know that they have these kinds of activities during our first visit there and we hadn't brought extra clothes.

I am so impressed with how beautiful Rockwood park is. It is the total package for a nature park. Our family will definitely spend our weekends and days off here as often as we can. We are so lucky to have a park nearby that doesn't require a long drive for a kiss of true nature.

Congratulations Noche Kim! We hope your prize winnings give you even more reasons to Discover Saint John & the Towns By The Bay.
