What's Your Reason? Something for Everyone in #SJTownsByTheBay

September 16, 2022

It's the final week of our 500 Reasons to Discover Saint John & the Towns by the Bay Giveaway, and we're featuring YOUR reasons for making #SJTownsByTheBay your bay-cation or stay-cation destination!

Our week ten winner is Taryn, who has found a new home and community in our region:

Taryn shares:

My reason for discovering Saint John and the Towns by the Bay started last year on an impromptu work-cation. My partner and I drove through Saint John on our way to Fundy National Park and both thought it was beautiful but were unable to stop.

Fast forward a year, and a change of career paths allowed us to pick up and move from our home town to anywhere in Canada. Although we had never actually explored Saint John, we both felt a pull to the city and regretted not being able stop on our last trip East. Within a month we had found a short term rental and made the 16 hour drive to Saint John with our two cats.

It has been the best decision we have made. The people here are second to none. The natural beauty is like no other. And the community fostered within Saint John and the Towns by the Bay has made this region feel like home.

I would encourage everyone to visit Saint John and the Towns by the Bay on their next vacation. There is something here for everyone and I promise you will be a better person because of the time you spend here.

Congratulations Taryn! We hope your prize winnings give you and your partner even more reasons to Discover Saint John & the Towns By The Bay.

Land acknowledgement

The Saint John Region is situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’Kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati Nations. This territory is covered by Peace and Friendship Treaties signed with the British Crown in the 1700s. The treaties did not surrender the territory and resources, but recognized Wolastoqiyik, Mi’Kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati title, and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
