Market Square sits at the heart of Saint John waterfront and has been a destination for years. Nowadays visitors enjoy dining, shopping, and relaxing, along the boardwalk area in summer and the nearby Harbour Passage walking trail year round. Market Square’s open spaces are an intriguing blend of historic and modern architecture and style, incorporating the old brick façades of the warehouses that used to line Market Slip over a century ago. Small events are held in the Atrium throughout the year, and visitors enjoy making a wish and tossing coins into the central fountain. All monies collected go to local charities. Market Square is part of the Inside Connection Pedway System linking it to the Hilton Hotel, Trade & Convention Centre, TD Station, Canada Games Aquatic Centre, and all of Uptown’s shops and services.
