Sculpture Saint John’s International Sculpture Trail

Sculpture Saint John’s International Sculpture Trail

Sculpture Saint John is an initiative that brings sculptors from around the globe to carve New Brunswick granite into works of public art, in a public setting. Granite-dust flies and visitors learn about the process as the giant stones are transformed in the heart of Uptown. Currently 30 finished pieces are available to visit as part of the Sculpture Trail, including 22 locations in and around Saint John.

CELEBRATING FIVE INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUMS

Sculpture Saint John 2021 will be the fifth and final International Sculpture Symposium to be hosted on the Saint John waterfront. The symposium has contributed 30 sculptures to the Greater Saint John Region and beyond. See the final eight pieces take shape, carved by international artists, from enormous pieces of New Brunswick Granite.

Land acknowledgement

The Saint John Region is situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’Kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati Nations. This territory is covered by Peace and Friendship Treaties signed with the British Crown in the 1700s. The treaties did not surrender the territory and resources, but recognized Wolastoqiyik, Mi’Kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati title, and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.

Envision Saint John: The Regional Growth Agency pays respect to the elders, past and present, and descendants of this land, and is committed to moving forward in the spirit of truth, collaboration, and reconciliation.
