Day of Mourning Ceremony

April 28

This year’s “Day of Mourning” ceremony will be held at the April 28th “Day of Mourning Monument,” located outside the Frank & Ella Hatheway Labour Exhibit Centre, Rockwood Park.

Part of the ceremony will be the laying of wreaths in memory of workers who have been killed in a workplace accident or who have died as a result of a work related illness. Organizations or individuals are encouraged to participate. In order that the names can be read out, anyone wishing to lay a wreath should advise the committee of the organization and who will be laying the wreath.

This year the Guest Speaker will be Joseph Maloney, retired Boilersmakers Union Vice-President for Canada.

Following the ceremony there will be a reception inside the Hatheway Pavilion—sponsored by WorkSafeNB.
