Discover Saint John’s Victoria Clarke to Chair National
Destination Marketing Association
Saint John, NB, June 6, 2018 – Victoria Clarke, Executive Director of Discover Saint John, was appointed as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Destination Marketing Association of Canada (DMAC) at their recent bi-annual board meeting in Halifax, NS.
The purpose of DMAC is to raise the level of professionalism in the industry through sharing of best practices, benchmarking and educational efforts. DMAC serves as an information exchange, and exerts its collective influence in matters which impact the national destination marketing industry.
“I am honoured to play a leading role in moving the association’s agenda forward,” says Clarke. “DMOs (destination marketing organizations), like Discover Saint John, are significant economic generators for their communities and my role as the new chair of DMAC will allow me to help drive change and influence issues critical to the tourism industry.”
Minto Schneider, Chief Executive Officer of the Waterloo Regional Tourism Marketing Corporation is the past-Chair. “I am very pleased to pass over the baton as Chair of the DMAC Board of Directors to Victoria. She will do a great job leading the organization as we navigate the changes in the role of the DMO over the next year.”
DMAC is a member-based organization including active members from across Canada.
Paulette Hicks, President of the Saint John Hotel Association, is thrilled that Clarke’s appointment will position Discover Saint John on the national stage. “Discover Saint John has proven itself a leading sales and marketing economic development agency for our region and Victoria’s recent appointment is proof that people are taking notice of #SaintAwesome across Canada,” says Hicks.
Discover Saint John is private-public partnership which began in 2010 through an agreement between the Saint John Hotel Association and Saint John Common Council.
