Discover Saint John Announces New Chair of Board

Saint John, NB December 11, 2013 — Today we are pleased to announce Allison Fraser as the new chair of the Discover Saint John Board of Directors.  Allison Fraser is the general manager of the 197-room Hilton Saint John and her responsibilities also include managing the adjacent Saint John Trade & Convention Centre. During her 26-year career, Allison has honed her operations, finance, human resources, sales and marketing skills so that she can efficiently manage and direct all aspects of a hotel.

Prior to joining Hilton, she served since 2007 as general manager of the Emerald Lake Lodge in Field, British Columbia, a high-end, unique, remote, historic, four-star property housing 85 guest rooms and suites spread out in 23 cabins over 15 acres in Yoho National Park in the Canadian Rockies.  During the last four years of her tenure, Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards ranked Emerald Lake Lodge one of the top two resorts in Canada, advancing from sixth place when she was appointed to her position.

Discover Saint John would also like to express our thanks to our outgoing-chair, Glenda MacLean, for her years on the board of Discover Saint John. Glenda has volunteered her time and energy to help advance the organization over the past four years and she will be missed. A special thanks also to outgoing board members Paulette Hicks and Terry Hutchinson whose terms on our board have just recently ended.

Discover Saint John is governed by an 11 member board of directors with 5 appointees from the City of Saint John, 2 members of the Hotel Association, and 4 members appointed as industry representatives.
