Sit back and relax for the day at New River Beach Provincial Park. A huge stretch of sand along the Fundy Shore, this saltwater beach offers tidal pools abundant with crabs, periwinkles, whelks and starfish; maritime vistas of offshore islands and fishing boats, and bird-watching opportunities for those looking to add shorebirds to their life-list. The park’s facilities include walking trails and boardwalks, campsites, a playground and volleyball courts, and three rustic shelters air-conditioned by the Fundy breeze.
Land acknowledgement
The Saint John Region is situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’Kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati Nations. This territory is covered by Peace and Friendship Treaties signed with the British Crown in the 1700s. The treaties did not surrender the territory and resources, but recognized Wolastoqiyik, Mi’Kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati title, and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
