Spend an hour or two at the New Brunswick Museum enjoying stunning world-class exhibits, visiting the “Hall of Great Whales,” the Fundy Tidal Tower, the Family Discovery Gallery or the unique gift shop. A great place to pick up some unique Saint John treasures!
Plan to grab lunch and do some shopping at the Saint John City Market, the oldest continuing farmer’s market in Canada. The roof is a traditional post and beam market roof that resembles the inverted hull of a ship.
Visit the Reversing Rapids, where the Bay of Fundy’s highest tides in the world rush up and over the St. John River, they collide spectacularly, and the river actually reverses in the face of this unstoppable natural power. A great vantage point to check out this amazing phenomenon is Fallsview Park. Be sure to check the tide tables before you go, to understand if you’re looking at High, Low or Slack tide.
Do some urban exploring in historic uptown Saint John exploring boutiques, studios and restaurants offering everything from local seafood to ethnic cuisine! Visit Market Square, located on the historic Saint John waterfront, and check out a variety of entertainment on their boardwalk. Take a walk along the water on Harbour Passage or relax in King’s Square.
