For those who prefer a pool, the terrific indoor swimming complex at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre, is located right in the heart of uptown. Outdoor pools including the Hampton Community Pool and the Quispamsis qplex, both just a short drive from the city, offering day passes and special events. If you’re looking for a little sand between your toes, you can choose from fresh or salt-water options. With public beaches sprinkled all over our River system, and ocean-side stretches of sand at New River Beach and Mispec Park, there is truly a beach for everyone.

The Saint John Region is situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’Kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati Nations. This territory is covered by Peace and Friendship Treaties signed with the British Crown in the 1700s. The treaties did not surrender the territory and resources, but recognized Wolastoqiyik, Mi’Kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati title, and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
